Twitter For Internet Marketers

How to Get More Followers in Your Twitter Account and Leverage on It to Propel Your Business!

[Slide 1] Hello and welcome to ‘Twitter For Internet Marketers’ audio course. In this special course, I’m going to teach you how to get more followers in your Twitter account and how you can use Twitter to leverage and propel your business on the Internet.

[Slide 2] If you have been marketing for at least a few months online, chances are that you’ve been hearing of Twitter. A lot of Internet marketers are talking about it as Twitter is slowly becoming popular as a Web 2.0 phenomena on the Internet and did you know as of July 2008, over 2.2 million accounts were registered on Twitter?

This source has been taken from Wikipedia.org and I expect that the popularity and database of Twitter will continue to grow exponentially as I’m speaking.

If you do not know what Twitter is or have any idea what it is at all, Twitter is a micro-blogging service and it’s freely available as a social networking tool that you can sign up for free just by going to www.Twitter.com.

Users can send instant updates and direct messages to their followers. Hence, their updates are known as ‘Tweets’.

You can update your followers or let people know what you’re currently doing in real-time by sending updates to your Twitter account via the web or cell phone. And this is what makes Twitter very easy to be used.

Because of its simple nature, you can use Twitter to build your relationship with your followers who can be your potential customers and partners very easily and more efficiently. You can build a stronger following rather than depending fully on your email list which sometimes people might not be that responsive on your opt-in mailing list or visitors to your blog.

So Twitter is a good alternative to building a different type of list or so to speak.

[Slide 3] Because of Twitter’s simple nature, this crash course is going to be very quick as well but nonetheless you are going to learn how to build a list of 300 followers on your Twitter account in 7 days.

I think it is very possible to build a list of 300 followers even if you are not a highly reputable Internet guru or have no credible name. To get 300 followers is very possible and there are people who are building a list of followers in hundreds and some even into thousands.
I think for starters, anybody can build a list of 300 followers very easily and you are going to discover just that in this crash course.

Now the speculation is whether Twitter can be a good alternative or even a killer for email marketing tactics because Twitter can be a perfect response builder to compensate your weakness if you’re building a non-responsive list.
That being said, I’m also going to show you how Twitter can help you connect much better with your followers on a much more personal level. These followers we’re talking

about in a business context, they are either your potential customers or even potential partners that you could be working with in the near future.
Now there have been infopreneurs that proved that selling is very possible using Twitter and there are people making hundreds and even made it to thousands from Twitter. In fact as I’m speaking on this, there used to be a time where people doubted whether blogging can help any ordinary person to make a healthy income.

And today, we hear people making 6 figure annual income just from blogging. I think it’s another speculation to see whether Twitter can actually help people to make a healthy profit on a monthly or annual basis on the Internet as well.

[Slide 4] Now to answer a very big question that most people have (you might have it as well): What has Twitter got to do with your online business and how can it help?

This is the most important question that I’ll be addressing here right now.

A lot of people perceived that Twitter can be a waste of time when it first came out, building on the concept that you can update followers in real-time on what you’re doing. So people argue that why do you want to spend time on the computer writing about what you’re currently doing and it would be silly to tell people trivial things like you’re brushing your teeth, I’m eating dinner, I’m going for a short holiday, I’m going to the grocery store, I just hurt my toe and people are questioning why should they put Twitter and cramp it into their already-busy schedule and already-busy lives.

I would personally think that if you send menial updates to your Twitter account, I think definitely it will not only be a big waste of time but as an Internet marketer, you are already putting in a lot of trivial and time wasting updates that your followers are not going to be impressed in listening at all.

So that being said, we’re going to use Twitter more professionally and at the same time, we’re going to use it on a more personal level. In other words, we’re going to make a healthy balance.

To begin with, you can easily send updates to your followers before, during and after your product launch. If you’re doing product launches, this is going to be a very effective tool that you can use to update your JV partners and potential customers –real time- telling them about launch sequence like are there any latest updates and so on.

For any reason why you cannot log into your autoresponder account or you have problems updating them by email, you can use Twitter to update real-time. I have done so on my own launches before and I know that it’s actually tedious to send emails all the time as well. As it is not as easy as other people might think it might be.

So Twitter is a very good alternative to updating your potential partners real-time and as long as you get them to follow you in Twitter, this is a strong incentive for you to do so. You can update people in real-time and get people to take action very quickly.

Also indirectly, you build trust with your followers by dispensing catchy quotes and useful tips within 140 characters. When you don’t have the time to make full time blog posts, then using Twitter to send small updates is a very good temporary substitute for making updates to your blog. And people can read your Twitter updates live every time they visit your blog.

Yes, I am implying that you can add Twitter to your blog post – in case you don’t know that. If you want teleseminars or give-away events, you can broadcast request updates as well through Twitter and you can start getting fast responses from your partners and visitors as well.

[Slide 5] To start building your list of followers from scratch and how you can get a minimum of followers and grow it in just seven days, I’ll be revealing to you 4 simple steps on how you can do so. I believe that almost anyone can do it very easily just by following these steps. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist or exceptionally smart to do this or even have a big name to pull this off.

In fact when you are starting out by adding people into your contact list – if you have Gmail or hotmail or so that is being supported by Twitter, you can start extracting a list of names from your contact list who have Twitter accounts and you can follow them right away.

Chances are the fraction of these people will also receive and follow you as well and if they want to keep up with you. As a target, you can probably get 25 – 50 people to follow you easily if you have initiated a lot of contacts via email very easily.

But I won’t count this as a step because this comes as a default. So we are going to start with a solid step 1. If by chance you have a Facebook account or an account with Myspace or Blogger or Typepad, what you can do is integrate your Twitter account with Facebook and other Web 2.0 sites like Myspace, blogger and Typepad. By going into this URL.

You have to log in to your Twitter account first by the way to be able to use this URL. Go to Twitter.com/badges/facebook.

By immediately integrating this into your Facebook account, you can start leveraging on your existing friend’s account in Facebook to start following you on Twitter as well. So I think you can easily get a hundred of people from here if you have a list of a few hundred friends on Facebook, you can probably get 100 which is a fraction of your Facebook account.

Now step 2 is to integrate Twitter on your personal blog whether you have Blogger or Wordpress, Wordpress has a special plug which you can find on Google, you can start getting probably about 100 people depending on your traffic. So that’s about potentially 250 people so far.

But we are going to cover 2 more other steps to make sure that you can get 300 people in 7 days to follow you up on Twitter.

Step 3, after adding Twitter to your personal blog as a plug-in – you can start initiating genuine conversations with your followers and other people whom you’re following on Twitter.

Use the alias (@) at the beginning followed by the username of the person that you want to have a conversation with. So when you start conversing with each other, it will start appearing on multiple accounts meaning that when a person replies back to you, his or her followers will start seeing your name and if they know you or are interested in following you, you’ll start getting some followers from the people whom you have been replying to you.

Since mostly Internet marketers use this, chances are he or she will also put the Twitter plug-in or badge on his or her Facebook and personal blog, so you can start getting traffic to your Twitter account and you can start building followers from there as well.

Within the expense of 7 days, I think it’s realistic to expect 25 – 50 more people following you so there you have it again.

In step 4, you’ll start implementing long term methods like adding a signature for mentioning your Twitter URL which is twitter.com/(Your Username). Put this under your email signature or put as your forum user signature or when you start printing name cards – don’t forget to include your Twitter’s username as well.

Last but not least, you can also include it in your website personal profile where you talk about yourself. So this is a long term method that you can start building a list of followers very easily and I think 300 is very possible and it doesn’t have to stop here because this 4 steps, you can start to use to get long term followers. And it is realistic to expect another 25 or 50 more followers in 7 days if you put all these methods into application.

[Slide 6] Tweeting updates – What to Tweet and what not to.

You might think there is nothing much to tweeting updates and yes, the truth is there is nothing much. However as a professional Internet marketer in your own rights, I would advise you while you can be more personal you should be careful of what you’re disclosing or what you write about in your Twitter updates.

Because your followers are keeping an eye on you and you have to protect your professional image as an Internet marketer. So be careful with what you write in your Twitter updates because this is a web 2.0 environment where people are more personal than ever and people are seeing beyond just a phase of company and they are seeing a real you.

So be careful with what you write on Twitter.

To start initiating replies, always use the @(Username of Twitter member whom you wish to speak to) and if you want to start recommending websites or links, do not put the following there even if it is a domain name. Because Twitter updates can only support up to 140 characters and this is the case to fit in with the cell phone text messaging services worldwide.

I recommend that you use tinyurl.com to shorten your links if you want to send URLs through direct messages or Twitter updates.

Now I understand that most of us (including you and myself) are quite busy so we may not have time to tweet real-time or send updates to Twitter in real-time, so I advise going to www.tweetlater.com

You see, a lot of busy Internet marketers could predict their schedules so what they did is they did their tweets all in advance. It’s like a time-table in advance that people are doing.

They did just that and you can still start sending out multiple updates even when you are not at the computer or using the cell phone to send messages and upload it to the web.

I hope that you’ll find this resource very useful.

[Slide 7] This concludes the ‘Twitter For Internet Marketers’ course on how to get more followers on your Twitter account and leverage on it to propel your business.

Thanks for listening and I hope that you can apply these methods as soon as possible. Even twitter is quite an over simplified Micro-blogging tool, the potential should not be underestimated by any measures.
